COURSE SUPERINTENDANT’S REPORT DECEMBER 2024
Finally a bit of rain to not only top up the stormwater dam, but we now have some growth on our fairways and rough. Also with the effluent water being available again we will be able to water fairways and approaches. The greens are in good order and have been sprayed with a fungicide to clear up a bit of Fusarium, and I have applied a wetting agent to help them through the hot windy weather. They have had the groomer run through them to remove some thatch build up and we will groom them again and dust them in with topsoil after Christmas.
The bunker edges have all been trimmed and new sand has been added to most bunkers on the course.
The plates on tees have been trimmed around and the new tee that we have built at the 10th and re-turfed has been cut for the third time and should be back in play soon. The black tee at the 7th has been damaged by the water fowls eating all the new growth and players constantly practicing from the plate area every day. We have fertilized and covered the area with a growth cloth to help in the recovery.
The concrete path at the 15th tee has been completed with the final 3.2m3 layed on Tuesday. This is a big improvement on the old path which was uplifted by tree roots and was a trip hazard.
I would like to thank the Management and Board of Directors for their ongoing support over the past year and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.
Thanks
John
