Grading and Awarding of Prizes in Men's Golf

To all Men's Golf Members:

The Men’s Golf Committee has conducted a review of the awarding of prizes and have settled on a system that will ensure an enhanced distribution of prizes and equity to all players.  To ensure that all members are fully informed, we advise the Committee’s decision of how Grading and the awarding of prizes will be carried out for all Men’s Golf Competitions.

Grading:

For all Special Prizes (NTP, D/P, L/D)

A Grade: Handicap Up to 12

B Grade: Handicap 13 – 18

C Grade Handicap 19 and above,

The Grades will be adjusted at the close of the competition to equalize as near as feasible the number of participants within each grade.

For example, this may mean you win a C grade special prize but end up in B grade for the final results.

Determination of Divisions / Special Prizes:

Divisions/ Special Prizes will be determined based on the total number of competitors for the day’s event.  The number of players determines the number of divisions.

Players

41-80

Awarding of Prizes:

The total Prize Pool will be adjusted based on the number of players for that competition. The prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the contested division(s) after the Grade adjustment.

Percentage of Prize Pool.

 1ST  50%

2nd 30%

3rd 20%

This Process will ensure Men’s Golf can remain financially viable and all members are rewarded equally based on the number of competitors.

Please note that although a 4th Division is stated above as a strategy, the 4th Division is still under assessment due to complexities and time involved in setting it up. An alternate option under consideration is staying with 3 divisions and adding a 4th prize to each division for 140+ players in the competition.
